University of Texas at Austin library catalog
This is the largest library in this part of the United States. The public can use materials in the libraries. If you are an ACC student or staff, ask in the library about obtaining checkout privileges with a TexShare card.
Austin Public Library catalog
Lists holdings of the central library at 8th and Guadalupe and all the branch libraries. (If you get a PIN from the public library, you will be able to renew books online.)
Texas State Library
Access to the library's catalog and to many other information resources. This library is open to the public and is located next to the Capitol building.
Texas State University Library - San Marcos
The University recently changed its name from Southwest Texas State University.
St. Edward's University Library in south Austin.

Texas Tech University Library
The university based in Lubbock will soon start offering courses at regional centers in central Texas.

TexShare Library Catalogs
TexShare is a collection of Texas college libraries, most of which allow students and staff from other schools to freely use each other's libraries. ACC is a member of this group. This link goes to a list of all TexShare libraries that have their catalogs available over the Internet (although not all of these allow check out of material). Check the lending policies of the participating libraries if you have questions.

The National Library of Medicine
The NLM is the largest medical library in the world. It is part of the U.S. Government and is located in Bethesda, Maryland. It is a good place to search for material on a topic. Once something is found, then try local libraries.
The Library of Congress
This library in Washington, D.C. has the largest collection in the world. You may also want to try the library's homepage, which has additional research tools useful for topics on American government and history.

Library catalogs from around the world searchable through one interface.
Libweb
A collection of links to library catalogs all over the world.
