Library Services for Distance Learning Students

Our goal is to ensure that all ACC students -- including those enrolled at ACC centers and sites or online -- have access to ACC Library resources and services.

OVERVIEW

Are you wondering which ACC Library to use?    Your ACC course does NOT meet on any of 8 campuses?
Here's some brief information to get you started.

Campuses:

  • All 8 ACC campuses (CYP, EVC, NRG, PIN, RGC, RRC, RVS, SAC) have libraries with librarians, services, and collections. We work together as one team. Library hours & contact info.
  • ACC students may utilize any ACC Library -- meaning that you are not limited to using the library at your specific course location.
  • Online learning students may utilize any ACC Campus Library.
  • ECS (Early College Start) students enrolled in ACC courses at their high schools may also utilize any ACC Campus Library.
  • Centers & Sites -- ACC students enrolled at Centers and Sites may also utilize any ACC Campus Library.

Centers:
ACC offers courses at a multitude of "non-campus" locations—called centers and sites—spread throughout 8 central Texas counties.

  • These ACC centers (ECR, FBG/HCUC, SMC) offer ACC Library Services on-site.
  • Hours of service and library resources are limited at these Centers. So, it's important that you verify hours of service.
  • ACC students enrolled at these Centers can access ACC Library Services at those locations in ADDITION to visiting any ACC Campus library.
  • Nearest Campus. Students are also generally informed to contact their nearest ACC Campus for additional services not offered at their Center or Site.

NEED HELP?

LIBRARY WEBSITE - RESOURCES AND SERVICES

The Library website http://library.austincc.edu is available 24/7. From the Library website you can access services and resources.    Only a few of the most requested items are listed below.    Many more Library services are accessible online at:    library.austincc.edu/gen-info/Services/svc-prog.php.

Books

  • ACC Libraries -- Books and media at all 8 campus libraries are listed in the Library Catalog. From the ONE catalog, you can see library holdings of all our campus libraries -- and the catalog indicates which library has the item.
  • See the section below about Document Delivery of ACC Library materials.
  • Online Books -- E-books are also linked/accessed via the Library Catalog.
  • Books at OTHER libraries -- Other libraries catalogs
A TexShare card lets you check out materials at many Texas college and public libraries. See the section below about obtaining a TexShare card to use at other libraries.

Articles

  • Article databases and e-resources -- A to Z alphabetical lists AND subject lists.
  • The ACC library subscribes to numerous databases of full-text magazine, newspaper, and journal articles, and other e-resources such as encyclopedias and e-books. Just like 'on-campus' students, ACC Off-campus students/faculty access ACC Library databases through our website. If you are accessing Library databases from home, you will be prompted to enter your ACC E-ID to log-in. Please see note below about "Remote Access and E-ID."

Remote Access / ACCeID

  • You will need your ACCeID to log into Library article databases from home, and other off-campus locations.
  • Help with your ACCeID is available via the ACC Help Desk 223-HELP or online at http://www.austincc.edu/acceid/step1.htm.
  • Hints: Your student/ID number can be found on your ACC ID card, on registration and payment statements, or online at ACC Online Services. And the ACC E-ID needed to remotely connect to Library article databases is the SAME log-on used for Blackboard.

ITV Media

  • Each of the 8 campus Media Centers maintains a complete collection of current ITV tapes. Media Centers are located in the Library Suite. However, Media Centers' copies must be viewed on-site (they do not check out).
  • Campus Libraries -- Additionally, each of the 8 campus libraries has a limited number of ITV tapes or dvds that students may check-out from the Library. Those items are listed in the Library catalog, and you may call a Library to verify availability.
  • Centers -- Additionally, a limited variety of ITV tapes are available at SMC, ECR, & FGB/HCUC. A complete listing of ITV items at the 4 Centers is posted at:
