Library Services at ACC Centers

ACC courses are taught at ACC Campuses, Centers, and Sites spanning 8 central Texas counties. All current ACC students are eligible for Library Services, regardless of their course location.

All seven ACC Campuses have libraries, librarians, and collections on-site.

Additionally, four ACC Centers have ACC Library Services staff on-site to assist students and faculty. This page breifly describes ACC Library services available at these four Centers.

GET HELP - REFERENCE

• Centers: Library staff are available on-site at the four Library Centers listed above. You can contact them in person, by phone or email. Hours of availability, resources, and services available vary at each Center -- and are limited as compared to that of CAMPUS libraries. Be sure to see the above chart for the hours of your specific location.
• Campuses: All current ACC students may use any ACC Campus Library. Locations, hours, and driving directions are online at http://library.austincc.edu/loc/ or http://library.austincc.edu/loc/HoursandLocations.pdf.

• Blackboard: When using Blackboard, click on the "Library TAB" to connect to the Library website and access services and resources. If you are the course instructor, contact Library Services to add additional library materials or services to your Blackboard course.
• Other Locations: ACC offers courses at literally dozens of 'sites' and high schools not listed above. All current ACC students may use ACC campus libraries. So, please contact us! LIBRARY CATALOG

The Library Catalog (Alicat) lists items in the collection such as books and media - held at all of the ACC Library service locations.

Use the catalog to locate library materials. You can search the catalog by title, author or subject and you can also limit your search to the Campus Library nearest you. The item dsiplay in the catalog also indicates which library has the item.

ACC students at Centers have the same circulation prvileges and responsibilities as those at Campuses. You may check out circulatiing items at any ACC campus library. Please see the document delivery service listed below....

DATABASES - ARTICLES

ACC Library article databases are online at: http://library.austincc.edu/eresources/AtoZ.htm. Through these databases you have access to full-text journal, magazine, and newspaper articles, as well as to other e-resources such as e-books, encyclopedias, and more!

You can access these databases at any campus library, or remotely online from home or these 4 Centers BSP, SMC, FBG, RRH. Please see the important note below about Remote Access.

REMOTE ACCESS TO ONLINE RESOURCES

Students need their ACCeID to remotely access ACC Library article databases. This includes access to Library databases from the 4 Centers with Library Services.

An ACCeID is your ACC ID number preceded by your first name initial and a password that you will create upon activation. Also, this is the same username and password required to access Blackboard and many other ACC online services.

To activate your ACCeID you will need your ACC ID (you can find this number on registration and payment statements). Contact the ACC Helpdesk for assistance with ACCeIDs.

The following ACC Library services require an ACCeID:

• Database Collection - including full-text article databases
• E-book Collection

DOCUMENT DELIVERY to CENTERS (Sending Library Materials to Centers)

Document Delivery is the primary method of getting ACC Library circulating materials (such as books and articles) from Campuses to the Centers listed above. Library materials are listed in the Library Catalog. Please check the Library catalog prior to making a document delivery request.

Online forms.

• Document Delivery Form for ACC students at BSP, FBG, RRH, SMC, and online-distance learners.
• Document Delivery Form for RRH Students - Students attending classes at RRH may also use this form.

Be sure to indicate the delivery location on the form.

Campus Students -- Important Note:   If you are enrolled in courses meeting at any of the seven ACC Campuses (CYP, EVC, NRG, PIN, RGC, RVS, SAC) -- the Library routinely sends materials between campuses. It's a quick and easy process. Just contact an ACC Library for assistance. We'll gladly send circulating items from one campus library to another campus library for you to pick up there.

ITV COURSE TAPES

All seven Campus Media Centers have ITV Course Tapes available - viewable only on-site. ACC Campus Libraries also have some ITV sets available for checkout.

The four ACC Centers listed above also maintain a small collection of ITV Course tapes in our Library Service area (smaller than that at the Campus Libraries/Media Centers). It is strongly recommended that you contact ACC Library staff at the 4 Centers to verify if they have the ITV tape set you are seeking.

TEXSHARE CARDS

TexShare is a state-funded program that allows participating libraries to share resources. With a TexShare card, you can borrow books from many other academic and public libraries in Texas.

Go to any ACC Campus Library to get your card - or - ask for assistance from ACC Library staff at the 4 Centers. You must be a current student in good standing with the College in order to get a TexShare card.

WORKSTATION ACCESS

Workstations with Internet access are available at the ACC Library Service Centers listed above. Thus, you can access Library online resources and services at these locations.

However, please see the ACC Library Service staff at these locations for assistance logging into CENTER workstations. They typically have an additional step to gain computer access because you are not on an ACC Campus.

Examples of Center specific requirements:

• Bastrop Center
• Requires a Bastrop ISD user ID and password that will be issued to all ACC students by LS staff at the Center.
• Fredericksburg Center
• Requires that ACC students sign an Acceptable Use Agreement. Students are then issued a Fredericksburg ISD username to logon to a computer on-site.
• Round Rock Higher Education Center
• ACC students at RRH must go to the Computer Technology Center in Room 304 and show a current ACC photo ID & then receive a RRH username and password.
• San Marcos Center
• Requires a San Marcos ISD user ID and password that will be issued to all ACC students by the on-site librarian upon request.

After logging on to the Center workstation with these "local usernames and passwords," you can then go to the ACC Library Website to access online libary services and resources. Again, you will need an ACCeID to access certain online resources, see the ACC Library staff for assistance.
