Library Support for ACC Sites & Early College Start Students

ACC courses are taught at ACC Campuses, Centers, and numerous Sites spanning several central Texas counties. All ACC students are eligible for ACC Library Support Services, regardless of their course location.

Through the Early College Start program, high school seniors enroll in ACC courses, typically taught at their high school. You can find more information about the program at the ACC Early College Start website.

This page describes how the ACC Library supports area high school students attending classes at ACC Sites.

REMOTE ACCESS TO ONLINE RESOURCES

An ACCeID is required of all students to access library electronic resources off campus. This is especially important for our Distance Learning students at area high schools because you will need to access most of our services online from remote locations. When you attempt to access an online resource remotely you will be prompted to give an ACCeID. Access is denied if a valid ACCeID is not entered. The following Library services require an ACCeID:

To activate your ACCeID you will need your ACC ID (you can find this number on registration and payment statements). Your ACCeID will be your ACC ID number preceded by your first name initial and a password that you will create upon activation. If you have any problems activating your account contact the ACC Helpdesk for assistance. This ACCeID is the same username and password required to access Blackboard and many other ACC online services.

Note to High School Librarians: If students are having trouble accessing ACC Library databases from your library -- this may be the result of local network firewalls. Please refer ACC students to any of the ACC Campus Libraries listed above so that our Librarians may help them locate the materials they need.

LIBRARY CATALOG

The Library Catalog (Alicat) lists items in the collection such as books and media. Use the catalog to locate library materials for your research. You can search the catalog by title, author or subject and you can limit your search to the Campus Library nearest you.

All current ACC credit students -- including ACC Early College Start students -- have Library circulation privileges - meaning you can check-out books and other circulating items .

DOCUMENT DELIVERY

Document Delivery is the primary method of getting ACC library materials (such as books and articles) to Distance Learning students.

You have a couple of options regarding document delivery of ACC Library materials:

  1. Call your nearest ACC Campus Library and ask them to hold the book for you at that location. You can pick it up at that ACC Library.
  2. Distance learning students can also request items via this document delivery form. This form is only available to ACC distance learning students.

Be sure to check the ACC Library Catalog prior to making a Document Delivery Request to ensure that ACC Library Services has the item you need.

ITV COURSE TAPES

All seven Campus Media Centers have ITV Course Tapes available - viewable only on-site. ACC Campus Libraries also have some ITV sets available for checkout.

The four ACC Library Service Centers maintain a smaller collection of ITV Course tapes -- and availability differs greatly among these 4 locations. It is strongly recommended that you contact ACC Library staff at your course location to verify if they have the ITV tape set you are seeking.
