Current
ACC students and staff may check out laptops.
You
need your ACC ID card and a clear library record.
You
may use them in the library only. They
cannot be taken elsewhere or checked out overnight.
Laptops
can be checked out for a maximum of three hours. All laptops must be returned
1 hour before the library closes each day.
The
normal battery charge lasts three hours. If there's another laptop available
when you return the machine you have been using, you may check out the
new machine.
There
are laptops, zip drives, cdrom drives, headphones, and mice available for
check out.
The
laptops have Internet Explorer, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
It is not possible to add more software to the laptop.
All
laptops circulate on a first-come, first-served
basis. Laptops cannot be held for you, and they cannot be reserved
for a certain time.
This
is a free service. However, the overdue fines are $10 per hour so
it is very important to get the equipment back on time. If the equipment
is stolen or damaged while you have it checked out, you will responsible
for the full cost to replace ($2000 for the laptop) or repair it, plus
a $50 processing fee and any accrued fines.
For assistance in searching
electronic resources, contact the reference desk. Library staff are not
responsible for instructing you on how to use the laptop. If
you are not comfortable working independently on a computer, you may want
to visit the computer center where assistance is available.
The laptops will print
to the library network printer. No data can be stored on the laptop
itself, but you may save your data to floppy or zip disks.
