Academic Search Complete is a general index, useful for almost any topic, and also our largest. It has the full text of articles from over 5300 periodicals. Most of the periodicals are covered back to at least the early 1990s.
Activity
This will show you a periodical database that is a good place to start research.
- Start with the library's homepage (in the frame on the right) and click on Articles and Research. Then click on Articles & More.
- From the alphabetical list click on the letter A. Then click on Academic Search Complete.
- Type the keywords endangered species AND laws. (In this search engine, you do not have to put phrases in quotation marks.) Click on Search.
- You should get over 800 articles listed.
- Click on the title of one of them.
- You will see a summary of the article ("abstract") and more details on the article. If you scroll down and the text of the article isn't there, click on "PDF Full-text" to see it. You can print the article, save it to a disk, or e-mail it to yourself. This process is the same basic one used for the other periodical databases.
On your worksheet, list one article on your topic from Academic Search Complete.
