Rehearse
Begin by “talking through” the entire speech including your supporting material. Although a speech is not written word for word, you must think through how you plan to put your ideas into words. Avoid simply saying, “This is where I’ll state my first main point.” Instead, talk through exactly how you plan to verbalize your thoughts to your audience.
As you practice aloud, revise your content as necessary to stay within the time limits required for your speaking assignment. This form of rehearsal will improve the flow of your presentation and allow you to better determine where you will need speaking notes to prompt yourself.
