Rehearse
Your instructor may require that you use a specific form of speaking notes, but it’s up to you to make your notes concise and easy to read. Your notes should serve as a memory aid while you speak, but should never be a word for word manuscript of your speech.
Before your speech date make a mental note of the classroom equipment, such as a podium, and be sure to consider this when practicing your delivery. Your attempt should be to re-create as much as possible the speaking situation. This includes rehearsing with your visual aids and practicing the speech from beginning to end and timing yourself each time you do it.
