Newspapers

newspapers
Newspapers are a good source for local news and information. Like magazines and journals, they are called "periodicals" because they are published regularly, or periodically—usually daily or weekly.

Newspaper articles may be primary sources because they cover events at the time they take place and provide "eyewitness" accounts and interviews.
"Primary sources are original items or records created when events occurred or created later by participants in the events as memoirs or oral histories." Examples: "letters, manuscripts, diaries, journals, newspapers, speeches, interviews, memoirs, documents produced by government agencies..., photographs, audio or video recordings, films, research data, and objects or artifacts such as works of art or ancient roads, buildings, tools, and weapons."
