Finding tools - Web resources

There are three ways to find information on the Web:

Type a URL (web address) in your browser's search box and press Enter.

You can use a web directory such as Yahoo!, the World Wide Web Virtual Library (the first index of content on the Web), or the Open Directory Project (ODP), also known as Dmoz. Web directory contents are selected by human volunteers, not computers, and list web sites by category and subcategory. For a more selective list of web links on a topic, try a Subject Guide created by an ACC librarian.

Use a search engine, such as Google, Yahoo!, or Bing. You can find comparisons of search engines on the Major Search Engines – Features Guide, 2010 by Ran Hock.
