How do we know it is working?

Academic Libraries

Academic libraries have been designing, assessing and re-assessing their library-use and bibliographic instruction programs for many years. In recent years, as librarians design information literacy programs for the library and for the academic community at large, they are gathering data to determine impact. The Information Literacy IQ (Institutional Quotient) Test (Oberman and Wilson) is "designed to help you determine the readiness of your institution in integrating information literacy" into the curriculum of the institution.

School Libraries

Information Power published by ALA AASL in 1999 offers a full program of information literacy for school libraries. Although "The Nine Information Literacy Standards for Student Learning " is not specifically designed as a institutional quiz, this checklist can be used to provide a basis for assessing levels of information literacy in students.
