Library Resources    New Books! | E-books list Word | PDF

Sometimes the Internet is not the best or fastest resource to use to get information. There are many excellent astronomy encyclopedias and dictionaries in the reference areas of campus libraries as well as books that can be borrowed from the library. There are also e-books that can be read online.

To search for books and videos on astronomy, go to the library catalog. You can search by call number (QB1 through QB991), to browse the collection online.

Astronomy call numbers:

QB140 - 237 Practical and Spherical Astronomy QB460 - 466 Astrophysics
QB275 - 343 Geodesy QB495 - 903 Descriptive Astronomy
QB349 - 421 Theoretical Astronomy; Celestial Mechanics QB980 - 991 Cosmogony; Cosmology

You can also search by keywords and phrases, such as asteroids, astronomy, astrophysics, comets, black holes, constellations, cosmology, galaxies, lunar eclipses, life (on) other planets, meteorites, moon, nebulae, planets, quasars, radio astronomy, solar eclipses, solar system, space flight, space science, stars, telescopes, etc. You can use such terms to search periodical indexes for magazine and journal articles or to search the Internet.

Remember that you can ask a reference librarian to assist you with your research, in person in the library, by telephone, or online.
