- City of Austin
- The official web site for Austin’s
municipal government. Many useful links to city services, policies, city council,
financial information, the library, etc. Updated daily, so recent events may
be covered.

- From the Austin History Center.
An excellent collection of links to Austin web sites. Divided into easy-to-use
categories.
- Yahoo!
Austin
- A local version of the popular
web search engine. Local web links are arranged by general-to-specific categories.
These can be searched for your specific topic at any time.
- Open Directory listing for Austin

- An extensive list of Austin site arranged by general categories, such as Arts and Entertainment,
Business and Economy, etc. This is maintained by volunteers, so it can vary in it's depth.
- Austin City Links
- A good collection of links to
many Austin web sites, arranged by general topics.You can also search the
list for specific topics.
- Metropolitan Austin Interactive Network (MAIN)
- Links to over 400 local nonprofit
groups, such as social-service and cultural groups, charities, clubs, schools,
churches, etc. Searchable by specific groups or by subject.
Current Events
- Austin360
- The web site for the local daily
paper, the Austin American-Statesman. The complete text of today’s
paper is not available, only portions.
- Austin Chronicle
- The web version of the
“alternative” weekly publication. Selected articles are available in full text
for the past two or three years. Up-to-date listings of cultural and social
events are a strong point.
- The Daily Texan
- The University of Texas student
newspaper’s online edition. Almost all the articles are available in full text
the day of publication. Earlier issues are also available.
- News 8 Austin
- The web version of the all-local
news TV station.
- Local Television Stations
- This listing (from Austin City
Links) connects to all the commercial and noncommercial local TV stations’ web
sites. Many of these offer up-to-date local information.
- Topix.net - Austin News
- Aggregates top local news stories from several sources. The tabs at the top let you use this for national and international news, too.
Business and Economy
Austin Chamber of Commerce
- This nonprofit organization provides
assistance to and information on local businesses. They have a related site,
to promote tourism that has listings of restaurants, clubs, hotels, etc.
- Austin Business Journal
- This online version of the print
magazine has selected articles from the current and past issues. Links to
other local and national business web sites are included.
- Austin CitySearch
- A long list of Austin commercial
web sites, primarily local businesses, divided into categories. (There are
also connections to sites on politics, culture, community groups, etc.)
- Yahoo!
Austin Business Listings
- This portion of the Yahoo! Austin
web search engine and subject directory has links to over 3000 local business
resources, plus other related information.
