Designed for practical use, this book offers many definitions which, though
less comprehensive than those in the abovementioned title, focus more on modern

The complete illustrated guide to everything sold in hardware stores

This excellent resource does just what it says -- describes the various things
that can be found in your average hardware store. It's dedicated to "all
of us who have ever walked into a hardware store, home center, or lumberyard
and asked for a whatchamacallit or thingamajig."

Building criteria manual
City of Austin

This is the book to refer to when building anything in the City of Austin. It
contains local amendments to the Uniform Building Code, plus the city's
electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes, including special codes for
swimming pools, food establishments, and solar equipment. An essential source
for finding out what you can, can't and must do when building in Austin.

This set of books is "dedicated to the development of better building
construction and greater safety to the public by uniformity in building
laws." It is the basic rules and regulations upon which most local
building codes are based. Volume 1 covers administrative, fire and life safety,
and field inspection provisions. Volume 2 deals with structural engineering and
design provisions. Volume 3 covers material, testing, and installation
standards.

Means building construction cost data

This book is a must for building contractors. In thousands of charts it aids
contractors in figuring costs for various construction tasks, taking into
accounts variables such as materials, labor, equipment, and crew size. A City
Cost Index is a handy feature which allows estimation based on local cost
factors.
