Playbill --Theatre Central: Sites
The foremost collection of drama-related web sites. Scroll down the screen to see lists of specific topics. The host site of Theatre-Central is Playbill, which covers the current theater scene and is updated daily.
 
Yahoo's list of Theater links
 
An extensive collection of web sites. You generally go through three or four screens that list more and more specific topics. You can also search these lists at any screen. Highly recommended.
 
Theatre Library Association - Theatre Resources
 
Good collection of links to web sites, online texts, organizations, etc.
 
Infomine: Visual & Performing Arts
 
A list of scholarly web sites selected by librarians. It can be searched by keyword or browsed by alphabetical listing. General topics seem to work best at the start. For instance, start by searching "Theatre" and then browsing through the list. It avoids a lot of the "lightweight" web sites and can be more useful for research.

World Wide Arts Resources - Theater
 
A large collection of links to web sites on acting, production, and theater history.  
A combination of research information and links to other theater web sites. Divided into Research and Career. Recommended as a starting place for research. You can also ask specific question by email. From East Los Angeles College Theatre Arts Department.
 
Applied and Interactive Theatre Guide
 
Covers non-traditional theater and theater as a social resource, including Improv, Drama Therapy, Sociodrama, Theatre of the Oppressed, and more.
Theatre History on the Web

The "Area Studies" section is probably the most useful. It is diivided into six time periods. There are also many related areas for theater studies. Maintained by a retired University of Washington drama professor.
Actorsite.com
Mainly practical information aimed at actors trying to get work.
Theatrecrafts.com
Links to sources on many aspects of staging, including props, special effects, sound, wardrobe, etc.  Also has extensive glossary of stage terminology.  From a university in Britain.
Artlynx International Theatre Resources

Lots of useful links for theater history, acting, stagecraft, and more.

Global Performing Arts Database

International collection of images, video and text on specific plays, people and various aspects of play production.

Inter-Play

Input the name of a specific play and see which collections of plays include it. You can then go to the library catalog and see if ACC has that collection.

Stagework

From the Royal National Theatre in Britain. Information on specific productions, on acting, different jobs in theater, etc. There is a section for educators.

Musicals 101

History of musicals on stage, screen and TV. Special sections on notable figures in musicals history.

Broadway: The American Musical
From Public Broadcasting Service. History and biographies, plus the "Resources" section has a good list of other websites.
The Costume Site
Huge list of links relating to theatrical costumes. Divided into categories such as historical, science fiction, armor, etc.
The Costume Page
Links to many specialized web sites related to theater costumes.
Costumer's Manifesto
A large collection of links to all aspects of theatrical costumes. From a professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
International Theatre Design Archive
Links to websites of individual designers of sets, lighting, and costumes. Accessible by play title, playwright, designer, or producer.

New York Times Theater Reviews

Reviews published in the Times, mainly back to the mid-nineties, but some go as far back as 1905. Searchable by title, year, actor, etc.

Internet Broadway Database

Information on the shows currently on Broadway, casts, crew, writers, producers, etc.
 

Sources of Monologues & Scenes

American Rhetoric

Almost 500 speeches and excerpts from movies. The movie section has both scenes and monologues. For most there is both an audio file and a text transcription.

Alice in Theatreland - Collection of Monologues

This site has a small collection of monologues, mainly from classical and 19th century works. The links to other web sources of monologues is quite large.

Monologue Archive

Hundreds of monologues divided into comic, and dramatic, classical.

Basic information and staff contacts.
Austin Yahoo
A subset of the Austin Yahoo search engine. This portion lists many local drama-related sites or you can search for something specific.
Austin CitySearch

A collection of Austin arts information that includes drama. You can manipulate the information by type of performing art.

Austin City Links - Arts

A number of local theater organizations are listed.

Austin Chronicle
The Theatre section covers the local scene.
University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance
