This is the place to start for state EMS news, licensure/certification information, EMS standards, eduction resources, and links to regional offices within the state
- JEMS.com
This website, provided by the Journal of Emergency Medical Services,
offers information on a wide range of EMS topics, from training and classified
ads, to news about the profession. Note that articles from JEMS
are free in the EVC library.
- EMS Responder.com
Another website provided by a journal, this one from the publishers of Emergency
Medcial Services. Many articles from this magazine are online, and it
is also available in the EVC library.
- Emergency Medical Services for Children
(EMSC)
This is a national initiative from the U.S. Health Resources and Services
Administration to educate the public and medical community in ways to avoid
child death and injury. The organization's website has links for education
and training, statistics, and online modules related to child emergency services.
- MedlinePlus: Emergency Medical Services
MedlinePlus is a clearinghouse of medical information provided by the National Library of Medicine on a wide range of topics. This site about Emergency Medical Services provides links to many authoritative sites with quality information. Although aimed at the health consumer, there is a wealth of information to be gathered here.

Professional organizations are a great resource for information on emergency
medical services and related careers. Offerings on these web sites vary. Take

decisions regarding your patients' health, safety, and privacy. Knowledge
of what the profession considers good and proper ethical practice can ensure
that you do the right thing.
Journals
Journal articles are the best source for recent and authoritative information
regarding the latest EMS research and practice. Always include journal articles
when you are working on a research paper, if possible. Here are some places
you can get started.
- Full-text subscription databases.
ACC subscribes to a number of magazine indexes for health science topics,
including many with full-text articles available online. Some examples are
CINAHL,

Search Premier and Health
Reference Center - Academic.
- TDNet
This is a service that allows you to search by title for journals available
through most ACC subscription databases. Type a word or two from the journal
titles (e.g., EMT or emergency medical ) to get a list.

ACC Holdings in PubMed
PubMed is the interface for the massive index of health science periodicals
maintained by the National Library of Medicine. This search is limited to
those items available at ACC or through ACC databases. Add the phrase AND
emergency medical services* or AND emergency medical technician*
in the search box to limit to articles having to do with those topics. Try
other terms that come to mind as well..
