The Art of Arabic Calligraphy website discusses the historical nature of the Arabic script and provides numerous examples of its usage and application.

The Learn Arabic Language website provides a complete listing of the Arabic alphabet.

The Shariah Program website offers a complete series of lessons covering the alphabet and vowels and also includes short reading passages.

The English and French Language Resources webpage provides links to a wide variety of French language resources.

Gallica offers a virtual collection of treasures from the Bibliothèque nationale de France, including manuscripts, artifacts, and graphics.

LanguageGuide.org features grammar and lectures.

GERMAN

The German Department home page, maintained by Appalachian State University, offers dozens of links to German language-related web sites as well as lesson plans and course outlines for several classes taught at the university.
 

Resources for German Language and Literature, maintained by Vanderbilt University staff, provides numerous links to German language resources such as newspapers, electronic journals, and association and educational institution publications.

About.com's German Language pages include free online German language lessons, flashcards, and reading selections at various levels of difficulty.

JAPANESE  

The Japanese Resources page, maintained by the University of Wisconsin, offers an array of Japanese-related webpages, including links to on-line dictionaries, books, encyclopedias, and multimedia.

About.com's Japanese Language pages offer numerous resources for learning Japanese, including flash cards, sound files, and kanji images.

LATIN

About.com's Latin Language pages offer numerous resources for learning Latin, including dictionaries, grammar guides, and pronunciation guides.

The Latin Dictionary Grammar Aid website, created by staff at the University of Notre Dame, offers an on-line dictionary as well as a grammer aid and links to Latin language discussion groups.

RUSSIAN

The Russian Department home page, maintained by Appalachian State University, offers dozens of links to Russian language-related web sites as well as lesson plans and course outlines for several classes taught at the university.
 

Russnet, the Russian Language Network, sponsored by the American Council of Teachers of Russian, offers an interactive approach to learning the Russian language and its grammar.
 

Russian Language Resources, from Roy's Resources, offers many links to various  Russian-English dictionaries.  Your browser must be able to support cyrillic script in order to use some of the dictionaries.

A Russian Picture Dictionary, from LanguageGuide.org, provides for interactive vocabulary expansion.

SPANISH

Musical Spanish offers a variety of short tutorials and exercises for learning Spanish.
