Library Resources

New Books!

Sometimes the Internet is not the best or fastest resource to use to get information. There are many excellent physics encyclopedias and dictionaries in the reference areas of campus libraries as well as books that can be borrowed from the library. There are also e-books that can be read online.

To search for books and videos on physics, go to the library catalog. You can search by call number (QC), to browse the collection online.

Physics call numbers:

QC81-114 Weights and Measures QC350-467 Optics; Light; Spectroscopy
QC120-168.86 Descriptive and experimental mechanics QC474-496.9 Radiation Physics
QC170-197 Atomic Physics, including relativity; Quantum Theory and Solid-state Physics QC501-766 Electricity and Magnetism
QC221-246 Acoustics; Sound QC770-798 Nuclear and Particle Physics; Atomic Energy
QC251-228.5 Heat; Thermodynamics QC801-849 Geophysics; Cosmic Physics; Geomagnetism

You can also search by keywords and phrases, such as atoms, cell, charge, distance, electron, force, fusion, particles, physics, time, vector, velocity, etc. You can use such terms to search periodical indexes for magazine and journal articles or to search the Internet.

Remember that you can ask a reference librarian to assist you with your research, in person in the library, by telephone, or online.
