aimed at teaching and learning the subject. There are also numerous

The best single source
of statistics for the United States. Published by the U.S. government.
The web page lists all the sections, but you probably will want
to go to the index at the end of the list.
(To print from the
Statistical Abstract, your computer must have Adobe Acrobat Reader
software. The computers in the ACC Libraries should have this. Warning: Pay attention to the pop-up
windows when you print. It's easy to accidentally print many more pages
than the screen you are looking at.)
Fedstats

Statistics collected by
over 100 separate U.S. Government agencies are gathered together.
Hundreds of subjects are searchable by your keywords or by an
alphabetical list of topics. Mapstats allows searches for statistics
from U.S. states, counties, and cities. Easy to use compared to many
statistics sources.
U.S. Census Bureau

A massive collection of
statistics on the United States, particularly on population-related
topics. The American
Community Survey section has information on demographics of states
and cities.
American
Factfinder (factfinder.census.gov/home/saff/main.html?_lang=en)
A portion of the Census
Bureau. Focuses on population, geographic, and economic information.
You can input an area as small as a zip code and get a breakdown of
stats.

From the University of
California system. Statistics on a wide variety of indicatiors, health,
economy, gender, etc. for countries all over the world, generally for
1960 and forward. Usually stats can be displayed and downloaded.
