Frequently Asked Questions

How can I find out if the library has a textbook for my class?

Generally, the library does not carry textbooks. Textbooks are constantly being revised and updated, and keeping up with every new edition is not cost effective when the library's goal is to purchase materials based on their long-term usefulness. However...

Some instructors may bring current textbooks to the library for student use. When this happens, the books are put in the library's special Course Reserves section. See the FAQ Finding course reserves and language CDs for more details.

You may also want to check in the Library Catalog for older editions of various textbooks. Often instructors will donate older copies to the collection when a new edition is released.

Sometimes finding textbooks on reserve or in the catalog can be tricky because many have very similar titles and there are often multiple editions available. To help make your search easier, you should consult your syllabus for the exact title and author that your instructor has chosen.

**Selected textbooks are purchased by the ACC Student Support Center to assist certain student groups to gain access to required textbooks. More information ...
